Our Domain offers 6 wines in A.O.P Vacqueyras

Vacqueyras extends over 1300 hectares. It has been a CRU since 1988. The main grape varieties are Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Vacqueyras wines are available in three colors: red, rosé and white. White represents 3% of the appellation. We produce three red cuvees, one white and one rosé. The grape varieties are mainly Grenache and Syrah.

Montirius "Minéral" A.O.P Vacqueyras White

The name for this wine came to us naturally over the years of vintages which we tasted. In fact during the ageing in bottles, the mineral taste intensifies. ‘Mineralité’ for us means ‘saltiness’

Wine Tasting : A lovely freshness and balance in this wine. Hints of white flowers and honey found both on the nose and in the mouth. Finally in the mouth, a saline mineral taste.
 

Vine Varieties : 50% Bourboulenc – 25% Grenache White – 25% Roussanne
Age of vines : 30 years on average
Parcels : 1.82 ha
Soil Type : Old ‘Mindel’’alluviom Garrigues’ or plains soil, resting on yellow Helvetian sand and sandstone.
Climate : Mediterranean
Pruning : Goblet or Royat cordon pruning with a maximum of 6 spurs and 2 buds
Harvest : Manual
Winemaking : Skin maceration. Direct pressing. Blending of two white wines: white Grenache-Roussane and white Bourloulenc. Natural indigenous grape yeasts
Ageing : In bottles; Bottled in the Spring – 100% oak free

The entire production is bottled in fruit or flower days, Descending Moon (according to Maria Thun calendar) by Justine and Eric Saurel. No Sulphites added during bottling.

Montirius "Clos Alba" A.O.P Vacqueyras White

Awakening the Climate of the White Lands of our Ancestral Altitude
Terraces. The name "Alba" came naturally from the white color of the clay.

Winetasting : It is a wine that takes you by the hand and brings you tothe heights of Vacqueyras, in the Dentelles to reveal its delicate aromas ofwhite truffle to you in freshness, roundness and delicacy.

Montirius "Perle de Rosée" A.O.P Vacqueyras Rosé

It is a pressed rose wine. The grapes are chosen from one of our Vacqueyras parcels containing yeasts favorable to making good rose wine. We gave it this name because in the mouth it has the freshness of a dewdrop at the break of day.

Winetasting : Aromas of raspberry. Mouth-watering freshness, salty, gourmet, creamy and well balanced

Montirius Le Village A.O.P Vacqueyras Red

A selection of the youngest of our Vacqueyras parcels.

We called this wine "Le Village" as a tribute to the village of Vacqueyras, evocative of this wine classification, and also the name of a much loved village of Provence in the middle of the vines.

Winetasting : A lovely easily drinkable wine in its youth, with melted tannins. Aromas of mouth-watering red fruits followed by a lovely tannic structure

Vine Varieties : 80% Grenache – 20% Syrah
Age of Vines : 25 years old on average
Parcels : 5 ha
Soil type : ‘Garrigues’ or plains soil and sub soil, on blue marl clay
Climate : Mediterranean
Pruning : Goblet or Royat cordon pruning with a maximum of 6 spurs and 2 buds
Harvest : Manual
Winemaking : Traditional, total de-stemming, light crushing, natural indigenous grape yeasts
Ageing : In cement vats without interior lining, for one winter, then in bottles. 100% oak free
Bottling :
The entire production is bottled in fruit or flower days, Descending Moon (according to Maria Thun calendar) by Justine and Eric Saurel. No Sulphites added during bottling.

Montirius Garrigues A.O.P Vacqueyras Red

We called this wine "Garrigues" because it reveals he aromas of Garrigues on the nose and palate (thyme, rosemary, savory, black pepper, etc.)

Winetasting : Deep red wine. On the nose, an explosion of red fruits. The palate reveals a beautiful tannic structure, aromas of Garrigues and undergrowth.

Age of Vines : 70 years old on average

Montirius Le Clos A.O.P Vacqueyras Red

A protective place of century-old oaks surrounding the plot, a Grand Cru clay. The place is completely enclosed, hence its cuvee name.

Winetasting : Deep red wine with a peony nose, typical of the plot with notes of raspberries, liquorice and vanilla. On the palate, the tannins are fine, silky and delicate. A beautiful retro-olfaction. The aromas of the nose are found in the mouth complemented by elegance, finesse and a beautiful freshness.

Parcels : 8.5 ha
Soil type : ‘Garrigues’ or plains soil and sub soil, on blue Helvetian marl clay, containing the most complex of clays ‘Montmorillonite’ It is one of the loveliest pieces of land in Vacqueyras

Winemaking : Traditional, total de-stemming, light crushing, natural indigenous grape yeasts
